Perlin Network is building a scalable privacy-preserving general compute network

Detailed description

The Perlin Network is a distributed computing platform built on top of the novel DAG. The network commodifies underutilized computing resources into highly parallel batches of computing power, which can be utilized for tasks such as analyzing big data and training machine learning modules.

The platform has three major components:

  • Self-audited distributed ledger
  • Cryptographic proof of computational resources
  • Framework for highly parallel blind computing.

The Perlin ICO and PERL Token are raising funds for the launch of a scalable DAG-based protocol using Avalanche consensus. The Perlin ICO also includes the launch of a decentralized compute layer, called the Perlin Network, which will serve as a marketplace for the exchange of computing resources between providers and customers.

Problem

Having a network of nodes that can reason in a trustless manner and reach a consensus about a set of information efficiently in terms of time and energy is a trillion-dollar problem that plagues both decentralized and distributed systems.

Researchers, developers, startups and enterprises incur excessive costs to power up the cloud machines/instances they rent from centralized cloud computing providers.

Several solutions that have been conceived to address this space have to do with effciently utilizing and epidemically spreading less/more information viably across a network of nodes.

Solution

Perlin is creating a decentralized, trustless cloud computing marketplace which delivers massive computational throughput and power with the ability to attain high transaction volume and market activity, effectively reducing the cost of computing power.

Perlin is optimized to be a solution for developing dApps that require large amounts of computing resources and disk space, opening the door to a variety of potential use case scenarios.

Features

High-throughput parallel compute
Perlin coordinates and provides on-demand access to aggregated batches of compute machines around the world to collectively execute the most computationally expensive tasks, and host the most computationally-exhaustive technical infrastructures.

Privacy-preserving computations
Perlin delivers a developer-friendly privacy-preserving application framework built with homomorphic cryptosystems, zk-SNARKs, and interactive verifiable computation protocols to leave advocates and institutes that work with highly sensitive data and processes with peace of mind.

Resource-lock proofs

Perlin facilitates the trustless exchange of computational resources across its market by introducing novel cryptographic resource-lock proofs representative of a miner's CPU time and RAM invested into a client.

Scalable economy

Perlin's unique interplay of economic incentives between miners, validators, and clients and price stability mechanisms allows for a truly decentralized, trustless, egalitarian computing market which scales in the presence of mass adoption.

Perlin Network frames a trustless market around an untapped computing power supply consisting of highly underutilized computing resources to make supercomputing economically viable and accessible globally.

    • Token symbol ? Token symbol — a shorten token name. It is used during an ICO and after the coin listing at the cryptocurrency exchanges. : PERL
    • Fundrasing target ? Fundraising target — the maximum amount of funds to be raised during an ICO. When it is reached, the developers stop selling the tokens because they do not need to raise more money for the project development. : 30,000 ETH
    • Token type ? Token type — a platform for a startup launch that influences the stability of blockchain operation, the speed of transactions and the fees. :Ethereum (ERC20)
    • Soft cap ? Soft cap — the minimum amount of funds to be raised for the project development. Sometimes when the soft cap has not been reached, the money is returned to the participants. : NA
    • Role of token ? Role of Token — type of token depending on the opportunities it offers to its owner. Utility tokens give their owners a right to use the project services, security tokens are aimed at bringing profit, and currency tokens are a money substitute. :Currency token
    • Total supply ? Total supply — a total amount of tokens that will be released by the developers. :NA
    • Escrow agent ? Escrow agent — a qualified agent who has the right of signature in a multisig wallet. An escrow agent participates in an ICO, monitors the financial operations of the developers and confirms their fairness. :No
    • Tokens for sale ? Tokens for sale — the number of tokens offered to the participants of an ICO. :NA
    • Whitelist ? Whitelist — a list of participants, who get an opportunity to buy tokens. To be whitelisted, you need to register on time because the number of participants and the registration period are usually limited. :Whitelist N/A
    • Additional emission ? Additional emission — an additional release of tokens. It can be done once after the crowd sale or on an ongoing basis. In the projects with a limited emission there is no additional emission. :No
    • Exchange listing ? Exchange listing — an assumed date when the token will be listed at a cryptocurrency exchange. The developers usually indicate it in a roadmap and a white paper. :NA
    • Accepting currencies ? Accepting currencies — cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies that can be used for buying the project tokens. :ETH,
    • Can't participate ? Can't participate — the countries where it is prohibited to buy tokens. These can be countries where ICOs are prohibited altogether, or countries that have the requirements that a particular project does not meet. :China, South Korea, USA,
    • Know Your Customer (KYC) ? Know Your Customer — a verification procedure for ICO participants, during which the developers can ask for personal data, a photo and a scanned copy of a passport of a potential investor. :No
