Dock.io is a decentralized data exchange protocol that lets people connect their profiles, reputations and experiences across the web with privacy and security.
The Dock protocol is a special purpose decentralized data exchange protocol. This protocol is intended to incentivize the exchange of work experience, reviews and professional connections, and can be expanded to include any type of shareable data. In addition, the tokens serve as the proposal and voting utility to guide the evolution of development and changes to the Dock protocol. All token holders can contribute proposals and vote on changes and updates they’d like to see implemented. Applications receive tokens for data exchange. Users will have absolute control over their data through the use of a hosted third party service.
The internet has changed the job market forever. The average professional person changes jobs 12 times during his or her career in the US. Freelancing as a profession grows every year. Currently, 35% of the current US workforce perform as freelancers, and this percentage is projected to accelerate to 40% by 2020.
Professionals rely more than ever on centralized platforms to find work opportunities and sustain their careers. This $200 billion industry is controlled by data monopolies including LinkedIn, Upwork, Glassdoor, and others. These platforms centralize user data, making it impossible for individuals to transfer their hard-earned experiences, reviews, and ultimately their value. As a result, the industry provides fragmented experiences, and the internet becomes less connected.
The Dock protocol aims to solve this fundamental data hoarding problem by implementing a protocol that actually encourages data exchange between platforms.
By utilizing the secure Ethereum mainchain, data encryption, as well as a token model, the Dock protocol will allow users to take control of their data and exchange it between applications. The Dock token model will simultaneously motivate applications to exchange information by making it beneficial for both platforms involved in the transaction.
Both the users and the applications primary needs are met. Users get full control of their data and applications receive compensation for data exchange.
Your Information Is All Over The Place
Your information lives in many places. Managing each source separately wastes time, loses value and gives you no control of how it’s stored or used.
Updated Everywhere At Once
Update your information from any website in the Dock network and it’s automatically transferred to every other app you’re connected to.
Say Goodbye to Long Sign Up Forms
Get instant access to your information when you sign up for a new application so you’ll never have to fill out manual forms with the same information again.
You’re in Full Control
You have complete control and ownership of your data. Choose which apps use your information and what is shared.
Powered by Blockchain
Dock is a decentralized protocol built on the security of blockchain technology.

The dock.io app will serve as a connector between apps in the dock.io ecosystem, providing users a source to manage their information as well as sharing preferences between apps they are connected to in the network. As you update your information online: work experience, new connections, or complete an online course, you can automatically sync updates throughout the dock.io network. You will also be able to set specific share preferences if you want to be selective with where certain information is shared.
dock.io is a network, and the more people in the network, the more value it delivers to everyone involved. Our Rewards Program helps drive network growth and also rewards early adopters for contributing to the network. Users will be able to earn tokens prior to the token sale by completing tasks and inviting friends to dock.io.
We have very exciting initial partnerships to announce with leading platforms in the professional industry, which span tens of millions of users. As we finalize our core partnerships we will share them with you all shortly. Expect big announcements in Q1, and many more to come throughout 2018.
The most common question we’ve received is if we are having a token sale. The answer is yes, and it will take place in Q1. We are heads down developing tech and working on hitting milestones as a first priority. We will have a formal announcement in January regarding exact dates and terms of the token sale.
Remote.com is one of the first partners, and with over 2.5 million users, we are excited to deploy the first partner integration with the dock.io app. Users will be able to update information on Remote.com and automatically sync those updates with dock.io. Users will also be able to instantly import information from the dock app to Remote.com, providing seamless connectivity between each app.
Following the successful integration of Remote.com and the dock.io app, we will onboard additional partners in Q2 of 2018. As we integrate additional partners, data becomes connected and transferable between a number of sources.
This phase will open up the ecosystem to developers as well as process data saved through the protocol. Applications will be able to exchange data via DOCK tokens with encrypted packages over the IPFS network.
